  21. When they are not operating on a true color desktop (or "Workbench", in
  22. Amiga terminology), the majority of PC Internet browsers remap and
  23. dither all images using a 216-color "isopalette", which is a palette in
  24. which the entries are equally distributed in the color space. This
  25. allows for fast and efficient dithering, and is in general preferred to
  26. other methods involving dynamic color allocation and change based on
  27. the different images.
  28.  
  29. Internet browsers by Microsoft, Netscape and others share a common
  30. isopalette, consisting of 216 colors. The remaining colors out of 256
  31. change from browser to browser. Of these 216 colors, 6 are grays. This
  32. archive contains the palettes (in color, as well as the subset of grays)
  33. ready for use on the Amiga. Whenever this choice is easily practicable,
  34. we recommend to consider using these colors for palette-based graphics,
  35. especially for large surfaces of the same color, which would otherwise
  36. risk to be dithered by the browser.

  38. If your chip set does not support 8-bit color resolution (go in the
  39. Edit Palette requester, and see if the maximum value associated to the
  40. color knob is 256, or less), we suggest to force the color resolution
  41. by setting REDBITS, GREENBITS and BLUEBITS to 8 in Personal Paint's
  42. "Startup_1.set" settings file.
